Today I met with Joseph Hawa at his studio in Santa Ana, California. Joseph gave me a tour of his studio, and we discussed the endeavors that he is embarking upon with his art.

Joseph and I discussed one of his favorite works, “Neon Lights”. This is a highly color-rich painting that Joseph describes as intentionally provoking and agitating.
South Coast AQMD Vote on OC Beach Fire Ring Ban Today – PHOTOS Newport Beach, Huntington Beach
As a resident of Newport Beach, I have heard quite a bit of buzz regarding the potential ban imposed on fire rings on beaches in all of Orange County. Many Cities argue that banning the fire rings would cause significant loss of revenue associated with visitors who will no longer visit the beach without their fires. On the flip side, nearby residents of the beaches argue that the fire pits are a nuisance due to the obstruction to the air that the pits cause.
Today, the AQMD board will vote on the proposal to ban the fire rings on Orange County beaches. Here is a photo taken from the AQMD offices today:
Most Views Ever On LinkedIn – Penelope Trunk’s “Don’t Go to Grad School” Article
With over 200 million users now on LinkedIn, authors of articles that air on the site can really be heard. Well, if they’re good. Like Penelope Trunk. Through earth-shatteringly provocative article titles, and the far-out content contained in her articles she has done it – written the most viewed article of all time on LinkedIn. Her first article on LinkedIn was published May 1, 2013, and her third article – and the most viewed of all time – was published on May 10, 2013. So, while Branson and Huffington have been posting on LinkedIn for a long time, Trunk comes in and in a matter of 10 days steals the show. Amazing? Yes.
Penelope Trunk’s first LinkedIn article entitled, “8 New Ways to Think About Financial Security” was published May 1, 2013. The article received moderate attention with 9,239 views, 75 likes, and 46 user comments.
Penelope’s second LinkedIn article entitled, “Why Jason Collins Matters for Your Career” was published May 2, 2013. The article received moderate attention with 4,467 views, 19 likes and 23 user comments.
Penelope was just being modest with these first two articles.
Penelope’s third LinkedIn article entitled, “Don’t Go to Grad School” was published May 10, 2013. The article received the most views any “Influencer Post” on LinkedIn has ever seen – more than Huffington, more than Branson, and the list goes on – with a whopping 333,562 views, 858 likes and 1,504 user comments.
Something tell me that we have not heard the last of Penelope Trunk on LinkedIn.
Volcom Skatepark Costa Mesa, CA – Trevor Millican
Kickflip the 7 Stair at Volcom! I got a video of Trevor Millican kickflipping the 7 stair below. Volcom skatepark is a good balance of street and vert and a sweet little park nestled between the 55 freeway and a large green belt.
There isn’t much runway for the 7 stair, but you don’t need much speed since the landing is at a pretty soft downgrade and there’s enough momentum to roll away queen after clearing the stairs. There’s a nice handrail on the 7 stair, but I haven’t hit that.
